I have been searching for new ways to create a blog/site created solely for Drake events. I found similar sites that can radiate an environment that would hone a successful place for visitors to check out and easy for adiministrators to manage.

Perezhilton.com featured on my weblinks has a great layout, easy-read, simple, straight-foward information. He moderates a majority of each blog/news block but has an unmoderated comment box attached for others to contribute. His site allows for videos, pictures, and text boxes. This would be a great site to reference and it is too similar to WordPress!

Another site that is a good reference for successful events news is The Pitch, a kansas city news publication that also spits out events that happen daily and are updated weekly. It is a young publication that also features video and picture. However the pitch has a lot of advertisements which we might not be interested in.

Aside from work, first and foremost school exists.

As a class project I suggest we have a mini feature slash news website.

This would consist of featuring one of the many faces that make up the Drake community and relate him or her to current community news . This would not only be the typical interview but tid bits of what makes person X interesting. (ie see Maxim magazine or Cosmo featuring questions with handwritten answers)

I think this takes an element of the facebook phenomenon as well as incorporating news aspects.

Any comments? Critiques?

Taking on the Real World

I decided if I want a luxury vacation I need to take the dream and make it a reality. How am I going to do this? hustle.. I am going to try to make cash money.

I currently have two jobs and I am going to maximize my knowledge and see some tangible cash returns.

My goal: to have enough money to make it to Reno Nevada by October 31; Palm Springs, CA by November 13; and two Christmas vacations, Chicago and Florida. This includes having a fabulous wardrobe and enough money to enjoy each and every vacation.

Food isn’t a necessity because thinner is always better. I apologize for not attributing this quote accurately but, “You can never be too thin and too rich.”
